Дизайн
Внешне Lexus LX за последние годы практически не менялся. Автомобиль все также комплектуется огромной радиаторной решеткой, выполненной в форме песочных часов. Японская модель, как и другие продукты марки Lexus, оснащается заостренными фарами головного света, которые по умолчанию дополняются светодиодными огнями. Также внедорожник оснащается подножками и передним бампером с развитыми воздухозаборниками. Практически отвесная корма содержит крупные фонари со светодиодами. Задний бампер немного выступает на фоне остального кузова, формируя таким образом своеобразную подножку, облегчающую погрузку в багажный отсек.
Несмотря на сказанное, салон Lexus LX выглядит немного устаревшим. Это впечатление формирует центральная консоль, которая практически полностью укрыта клавишами управления бортовой электроникой. Немного «облагораживает» данный вид сенсорный монитор, который недавно был обновлен. Кроме того, салон японской модели по умолчанию отделан дорогостоящими материалами: кожей и натуральной древесиной.

Японцы уверены, что в настоящее время кроссовер Lexus RX остается достаточно конкурентоспособным, поэтому недавно подготовили для него достаточно легкое обновление (рестайлинг). Из видимого глазу – два новых оттенка кузова: Cloudburst Grey и Iridium, а из того, что скрыто – модернизированные амортизаторы «улучшенного трения».
В салоне авто остается 8.0- или 12.3-дюймовый дисплей развлекательной системы, а базовая комплектация сохраняет присутствие комплекса Lexus Safety System + 2.0. Но со сменой поколения авто переберется на платформу TNGA-K со всеми вытекающими последствиями.

Поскольку Lexus RX 2023 модельного года рассчитан на разных покупателей, он должен будет сохранять относительно недорогие варианты оснащения салона. Поговаривают, что в самой дешевой комплектации у машины нового поколения останется 8-дюймовый центральный дисплей, а кожа в отделке будет искусственной. Впрочем, и такой Лексус останется машиной с образцовым качеством подгонки элементов интерьера, к тому же в связи с увеличением габаритов салон кроссовера станет заметно более просторным.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Lexus has chosen fine materials for the RX’s interior, including soft leather, textured metallic or wood trims, and soft-touch plastics. The driving position is comfortable and easy to settle into, but the interior is marred by a few ergonomic missteps: The tuning knob for the radio is a long, awkward reach from the driver’s seat, and the infotainment system is operated by an irritatingly inaccurate controller just aft of the shifter. Luckily, Lexus has added touchscreen capability to the RX’s infotainment system. While it’s not quite the cargo-hauling champ, the RX came close, holding just one less carry-on suitcase behind its rear seats than the victorious Cadillac XT5. With its second row folded—a process done either from the side door or from the cargo area—the RX matched the XT5 with 24 cases. Folding the seats does not yield a completely flat load floor.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Buyers can have their RX in two distinct flavors: Models badged RX350 are powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 while the RX450h comes with the V-6 plus two electric motors. Our RX350 test vehicle was equipped with all-wheel drive and managed an adequate—but slow for the segment—run of 6.9 seconds from zero to 60 mph. The RX450h is one of the segment’s few hybrids, but it too required longer than average to reach 60 mph from rest. What the RX does best is ride comfortably; it irons out rough stretches of road and delivers a compliant ride. The cabin remains quiet and well isolated from the road, making the RX an excellent long-distance cruiser.

The base-model Lexus GX460 comes with enough standard features to please most buyers in this segment. This SUV rolls on standard 18-inch wheels, and all models are equipped with exterior amenities such as automatic LED headlights, daytime running lights, illuminated running boards, and heated power-adjustable side mirrors with integrated turn signals. Ten-way power-adjustable front seats and a power-adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering column are on hand to help you find an ideal position behind the wheel. The cabin is also home to standard features such as keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, faux-leather upholstery, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Lexus gave the GX its last full redesign all the way back in 2010, and this is perhaps one reason for the somewhat dated appearance of its cabin. The interior is home to wood and leather that looks appropriately deluxe, but there are also some hard plastics that seem out of place in a vehicle in this price range. Front-row passengers enjoy pleasant accommodations and a lofty seating position, but the second-row seats are surprisingly flat and hard, and the third row is a cramped space best left for kids. To its credit, the GX does a great job of keeping road noise out of the cabin, and the interior remains tranquil even when the vehicle is being driven at high speeds. This Lexus provides 11.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and 46.7 cubic feet behind the second. With the second and third rows folded, cargo space jumps to 64.7 cubic feet. This is less room than you’ll get in rival models such as the Audi Q7 (14.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 35.7 cubic feet behind the second, and 69.6 cubic feet behind the first).

Overview
Lexus sells some sporty, fun-to-drive cars, but the 2022 RX isn’t one of them. Despite its aggressive styling and available F Sport model, the RX is a big softie that delivers a creamy ride and two fuel-efficient powertrain offerings. A 3.5-liter V-6 is standard, but you can upgrade to a hybrid powertrain that makes 308 horsepower and delivered 31 mpg highway during our testing. The standard RX is a two-row, five-seat affair, but there’s also an extended-length L model that seats up to seven riders across three rows. Inside, the RX offers a plush cabin with plenty of technology features and premium finishes appropriate for this segment of compact luxury SUVs. If you’re looking for smooth-riding luxury with a practical twist, the RX is a great option, but there’s more fun to be had with one of the Lexus’s European rivals.

Infotainment and Connectivity
We found the Enform infotainment system difficult to use while driving, but it comes standard with many of the automotive world’s most modern and sought-after features: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and onboard Wi-Fi are all included. An 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen comes standard, but upgrading to the 12.3-inch display not only provides a wider viewing screen, it also adds in-dash navigation, a 12-speaker audio system (a nine-speaker setup is standard), a DVD/CD player, and access to the Lexus Enform App Suite. This collection of apps provides access to emergency assistance as well as limited internet connectivity from the infotainment system. A 15-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system is also optional, as is a rear-seat entertainment system with wireless headphones and dual 11.6-inch monitors.

If your lifestyle includes the actual driving of trails to off-grid glampsites, the 2022 Lexus GX is one luxury SUV that will get you there in appropriate style. Its truck-like body-on-frame construction, 4.6-liter V-8, and adjustable suspension system will climb over almost any obstacle in your way. The downsides? The GX isn’t very fuel efficient and its on-road demeanor is clumsy, not to mention that other car-based crossover rivals offer more comfort. But the GX plays in a niche within the mid-size SUV marketplace for luxury off-roaders that also includes the Land Rover Defender, which makes Lexus a unique choice.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 2022 Lexus GX continues to offer just one engine: a 4.6-liter V-8 that generates 301 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant is teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Lexus’s Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System is standard, and this setup aims to boost traction during off-road adventures. During our testing, the GX cruised from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. We’ve tested rival models that are much quicker, however. An Audi Q7 with the available V-6 made the sprint in 6.1 seconds, and a BMW X5 xDrive50i covered the same distance in a scant 4.2 seconds. The GX exhibits relatively smooth handling on paved streets, but it is in its element when taken off-road. Its sturdy underpinnings and 8.1 inches of ground clearance make this SUV an excellent choice for buyers who need a vehicle that’s at home in the great outdoors. A 6500-pound towing capacity bolsters its versatility.

Достоинства и недостатки
В Lexus LX сложно выделить недостатки. Японская модель предлагает покупателям набор опций, которые не встречаются ни в одном другом внедорожнике:

При этом Lexus LX, как и другие крупные автомобили, потребляет много топлива. Также японскую модель дорого содержать. Но второй недостаток частично компенсируется надежными ходовой частью, трансмиссией и двигателями, которые не требуют повышенного внимания на протяжении десятков и сотен тысяч километров.
