In the 1960s, Shelby American started with a ‘65 Ford Mustang and proceeded to convert Ford Motor Company’s pony car into a heart pounding, fire breathing racer that dominated road race circuits across America. Today, Shelby American offers continuation versions of those legendary 1965 Shelby GT350 and “competition model” (Shelby GT350R) sports cars.

Only 25 of the limited-edition series of continuation heritage Shelby cars will be hand built. Each continuation Ford Shelby GT350 is authentic from its spartan race bred interior to the mechanicals and cosmetics.

The cars come with a 331 cid aluminum engine supplied by the Carroll Shelby Engine Company with approximately 425 horsepower (standard). Options include a 364 cid Shelby High Performance Aluminum Engine or an OEM 289 cid HI-PO cast iron V8. The motor is mated to a TREMEC 5-speed transmission with an authentic Shelby shifter.

The suspensions are period correct, as are the brakes and traditional 9-inch fixed rear end. Original 1965/66 car bodies are fully reconditioned and built to 1965 specs in Ford’s iconic Wimbledon White paint. Each Shelby even wears authentic, original badges.

For those who want to tailor their car, the Shelbys can be ordered with optional equipment. These options include a various carburetors (715 Holley or Webers) and transmissions (an original Top Loader 4-Speed, T-10 Borg Warner or C-4 automatic), as well as 4-wheel disc brakes, air conditioning and others.

Since the Shelby cars begin with a 1960s era donor car, they can be both driven on the track and registered for street duty. Documentation for each car will be submitted to the Shelby American Automobile Club Registry, as well as the official Shelby American Registry administered by Shelby American.
